San Francisco continues to be one of the great cities of America. This adored location attracts local and international tourists all year round offering tasty cuisine on every street, shopping and markets, and bars on nearly every corner.

If you are going on a first date in this lively, atmospheric city, there is a plethora of night spots, restaurants and cafes to enjoy, but if you are to do something a little different, here are a few ideas for a first date in one of America's most loved locations...

We're not sure what's more romantic, popping the champagne among the clouds in a hot air balloon ride looking down over San Francisco Bay and the city, The Vista Grande Helicopter Tour, or the San Francisco Dinner Dance Cruise. The first two options sound like something out of a fairy tale, so for us mere mortals, the San Francisco Dinner Dance Cruise is probably more realistic. Take in the sun set over San Francisco while cruising San Francisco Bay. You will relish a delightful four-course meal freshly cooked onboard by an expert team of chefs. After dinner, dance to the live band and soak up the city skyline as you sip cocktails from the alfresco decks.

Fancy taking your date somewhere a little out of the ordinary? The China town Ghost Tours are sprinkled with spooky stories and folklore. Will you see any vampires or ghosts? probably not, but the tour guides at Nob Hill will do their best to keep you guessing with scarey stories of past times. A blustery San Francisco evening is the ideal atmosphere.

The gay community in San Francisco is probably the biggest in the world which adds to this lively and party cities reputation for its diversity when it comes to social and entertainment options. What ever takes your fancy, you're bound to find it.

The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is an ever-changing center for modern-day and current art. While pondering the distinguishing persona of California and San Francisco Bay Area, the Museum explores powerful constructions of visual culture, and we highly recommend you visit this superb location if you and your date are partial to fine art.

San Francisco Bay Area offers many outdoor activities that can make a date great. Take the 90-minute scenic drive to the wildlife reserve Ano Nuevo State Park. To get there, take the State Highway and head south out of the city.

Try a Napa Valley Wine Tour. It's only one-and-half hours or so from the city and is guaranteed to create a memorable first date. There are numerous other options and you can tour California's wine country by limo, bus, carriage, train or take the date to dizzying heights on a hot air balloon. - 32510
